Licence Application
The following disciplines are regulated professions that require an authorization issued by the Minister of Education, Science and Culture.
A licence fee of ISK 8.300 will be collected by giro when the application has been approved. The delivery period is set at 3 weeks. The licence will be forwarded when paid for.
Pre School Teachers
Application for authorization to use the professional title Pre School Teacher cf. Act No 87/2008 (in Icelandic) on the education and recruitment of Pre School Teachers, Compulsory School Teachers, Upper Secondary School Teachers and Principals and Regulation No. 695/1998 (in Icelandic) on legal protection of the title of Compulsory School Teacher.

Certified copies of certificates of all final examinations and a summary of academic record must be submitted with the application. Documents may be certified by the educational institution in question, the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, at a police station or by the district commissioner.
Nationals of the member states of the European Economic Area must submit certificates of recognized teaching qualifications in states within the area. Translation of the certificate must be approved by a certified translator.
Compulsory School Teachers
Application for authorization to use the professional title Compulsory School Teacher cf. Certified copies of certificates of all final examinations, including examinations of diploma study in education and a summary of academic record must be submitted with the application. Documents may be certified by the educational institution in question, the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, at a police station or by the district commissioner.
Nationals of the member states of the European Economic Area must submit certificates of teaching qualifications in states within the area. Translation of the certificate must be approved by a certified translator.
Librarians
Application for authorization to use the professional title Librarian cf. Act No. 97/1984 (in Icelandic) on Librarians and cf. Act No. 21/2001 (in Icelandic) .

*Please note that a duly filled-out application form must be signed and sent to the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture by mail along with certified copies of necessary documents. Applications sent by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
