Conference
Youth – Voice of the Future, 28th – 30th October, 2010
One of the major projects executed during the Icelandic presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2009 was a comparative research on the well-being and lifestyles among Nordic youth. The research project was carried out in all the Nordic countries, including the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Åland Islands.
At the conference the main results of the research will be presented. Based on the results the conference will focus on lifestyle and leisure-time activities, language and culture, education, gender and equality, extra-curricular activities and participation, local community networks, adolescent mental health, substance use, values and attitudes of youth.
The presentation of the conclusions of the research will be followed by lectures and workshops where politicians, researchers, scholars and others involved in youth studies will discuss how to continue work on the implementation of current youth policies and how to facilitate greater synergy between the different policies and action in youth issues.
The conference will present ideas for the continued work on implementing current policies on youth within the Nordic Council and how we can gain the ultimate goal that the Nordic countries should be the best place in the world for young people.
